Alexander – Dorothy “Dot” Jean White, 86, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 with her family by her side. Dot was born in Cooper on October 3, 1926, daughter of the late George and Mary (Buck) Flood. She attended schools in Cooper and worked as a stitcher for Ware Knitters in Calais until she married her love, Calvin White on November 23, 1946. Dot was a member of the Cooper Grange, Past Nobel Grand of the Riverside Rebekah Lodge in Baileyville, Worthy Advisor for Theta Rho, Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts, St. Croix Trail Riders, Sam’s RV Club, and the Spednic Club. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, bowling, having a good laugh, and most importantly spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her step-mother, Olivia (Edgerly) Flood; two sisters, Betty Gallagin and her husband Gene, and Jeannette Avery and her husband Walter; and two brothers, Hayden Flood and Arnold Flood and his wife Christine. Surviving are her husband Calvin C. White; seven children, Mary Poulin and her husband Doug of Hampden, C. Bruce White of Baileyville and his companion Nada Williams of Bangor, Diana Corbett and her husband Richard of Grand Lake Stream, Michael White and his wife Mickey of Alexander, twins Rev. Gail White and Dale Morgan, both of Lisbon, and Nancy Cochran and her husband Jeffrey of Hollis Center; one sister, Kathleen Sadler of Bangor; three brothers, Carroll Flood and his wife Beverly of TX, Ralph Flood and his wife Arlene of Cooper, and Rolfe Flood and his wife Janice of Calais; sister-in-law Lorraine Barone of Bangor; 13 grandchildren, Justin, Jessie, Christopher, Kacie, Kallie, Devin, Brian, Nicole, Jamie, Vanessa, Lyndon, Bethany, and Allen; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes to the staff at Woodland Senior Living of Brewer for the excellent and loving care Dot received. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Dot’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with her daughter, Rev. Gail White officiating. Burial will follow in Alexander Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dot’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
