Eastport – Dottie M. Avery, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, January 18, 2007. Dottie was born in Bruce, FL, October 29, 1928, daughter of the late James and Lela (Huggins) Hall. She married Seth E. Avery Jr. on August 10, 1945 in Bartow, FL. They moved to Eastport in 1945 where she worked at Guilford Mill, the sardine factory, and later at the hospital and nursing home as a C.N.A. Dottie was a founding member of the Eastport Pentecostal Church and enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls and knickknacks. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Brad Parker, and five brothers, Hubert, Junior, Preston, Virgil, and Alton. Surviving are her children, Rev. Seth Avery and wife Donna of Riverside, PA, Sandra Stevens and husband Elmer of Eastport, Barbara Ryder of Lincoln, and Betty Kierstead and husband Mark of Lincoln; a special family member, Merle Thompson of Old Town; six sisters, Althie Wasden, Carolyn Taylor, Nellie Webb, Melba Nelson, Linda Fay Summerlin, and Selma Hall; two brothers, Richard and Raymond Hall; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Eastport Full Gospel Assembly, 23 Washington St., Eastport, and from 12-1 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. in the church with Pastor Aussie Munn officiating. A spring burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home - Flagg Chapel, Eastport.
