Pleasant Point – Edith Faye Pond, 68, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer. Edith was born in Calais, August 16, 1938, daughter of the late Phillip Nicholas and Elizabeth Lewey, and her step-father, Jerome Neptune. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Pleasant Point, and the Pleasant Point Elderly Group. Edith enjoyed bingo, picking and braiding sweetgrass, wreath making, sweets, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by two children, Robert and Elizabeth Pond; two sisters, Theresa Gardner and Angela Barnes; and two brothers, John and Louis Neptune. Surviving are five children, Ronald Pond and his companion Cherie Nicholas, Cindy Pond, Debora Nicholas and husband Martin, and James Pond, all of Pleasant Point, and Brenda Pond and companion Carl Nicholas of Princeton; a sister, Clara Keezer of Pleasant Point; two brothers, Peter Neptune of Pleasant Point and Larry Sockabasin of Indian Township; seven grandchildren, Jaimie, Ellen, Renee, and Nicole Nicholas, and A.J., Justin, and Jonathan Harnois; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Nicholas, Justin Harnois Jr., and Lyndon Harnois; her ex-husband, Robert Pond; a special friend, Frank Maker of Eastport; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Saturday till 9 a.m. Monday at 72 Passamaquoddy Rd. in Pleasant Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne’s Church in Pleasant Point by Father Gene Gaffey. Burial will follow in the Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, Eastport.
