Edward Joseph Cislak, 76, went home to be with the Lord on May 20th, 2023. He was born on July 9, 1946, in Clinton, MA to John and Mary (Lemanski) Cislak. Ed graduated from Clinton High School and shortly after joined the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam and earned his CIB badge.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Ed worked for R.E. Chapman and later Lawrence Lord and Sons as a well-driller. He also served as a part-time officer for the Clinton and Princeton Police Departments, both in Massachusetts. Ed earned his pilot and commercial pilot licenses at the Sterling Airport, and eventually owned and operated his own R-22 helicopter named “Freeway”. Ed and Marilyn briefly moved to Marathon, FL where he trained and became certified as a Detention Deputy for Monroe County. In 1990, they moved back to Maine, and started building their forever home.
Ed enjoyed flying helicopters, fishing and hunting, and exploring the back roads and woods of Maine. He always enjoyed a good cup of coffee and spending endless hours chatting with friends and family.
Ed is predeceased by both his parents, as well as his sister Ilona “Cookie” Moeckel, and his brother John Cislak, all of Massachusetts. Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn (Holst) Cislak of Alexander; his son, Shaun Cislak of Massachusetts; his daughter, Stacey Decesare of Maine; his sister, Maryanne and husband Leonard Frost of Alexander. Ed is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were all special to him, as well as a large extended family.
A Graveside services will be held at the Alexander Cemetery on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at 11:00am. Reception will follow at the Alexander Grange, Cooper Rd, Alexander, ME. All friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “House in the Woods”, 217 Skunk Hill Road, Lee, ME 04455 in memory of Edward Cislak.
