Indian Township – Edward James Purdy, 44, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 2, 2021. Ed was born in Hinsdale, Illinois on July 27, 1976, son of George and Judy Purdy.

Ed was raised in Illinois and after high school the family moved to Maine. He initially returned to Illinois where he worked with scrap metal but eventually came back to Maine to be close to his family. Ed worked throughout New England on the pipeline and most recently as a carpenter.

Ed was predeceased by his father George; two sisters, Georgia and Mary Purdy; and an uncle, Lester Purdy. Surviving are his mother, Judy Purdy of Indian Township; two sisters, Rita Purdy and Jessica Purdy, both of Indian Township; three nephews, Timothy Blue, Donovan Blue-Mitchell, and Nathanial Purdy; two nieces, Cheyanne Lewey and Anjelita Muniz; a great-niece, Lydia Lewey; cousin Tanya Ackley of East Machias; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, including his childhood friends in Illinois.

Memorial visitation will be held at his sister Rita Purdy’s home, 3 Wolf Ave, Indian Township, beginning 11 a.m. Saturday, January 9, until 11 a.m. Monday, January 11. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
