Obituary for Edward John Renaud

Waite and Eastport – Edward John Renaud, 95, passed away from this life Monday, December 8, 2014 at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Edward was born in Waite on May 28, 1919, son of the late John and Vera (McLean) Renaud. On March 23, 1938, he married Charlotte Rideout in Princeton. Edward retired from Dead River Company in 1983. He loved the woods and enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. He was a very active member of Waite-Talmadge Congregational Church where he served as a deacon and trustee for many years. He was also active in the community and served as first selectman for seven years. Edward was a 50 plus year member and Past Master of Lewy’s Island Lodge No. 138 in Princeton, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 2nd Masonic District, St. Croix Chapter No. 17 Royal Arch Masons, Hugh De Payens Commandery No. 15, St. Croix Council No. 11, Orion Chapter No. 45 Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Valley of Bangor, Consistory 32 Degree of Portland, Anah Temple Shrine and Anah Past Masters Unit of Bangor, and a member of the Princeton Rod and Gun Club.

In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by a daughter, Rosalie Ouimette; a granddaughter, Sheila Walter; sisters, Elizabeth Ripley, Alice Kinney, and Margaret Phelps; and brothers Norman Renaud and infant William Renaud. Surviving are his loving wife of 76 years, Charlotte Renaud; daughter Greta Renaud; son-in-law Donald Ouimette; sister Rose Bean; sister-in-law Ida Renaud; grandchildren, Donald, Deborah, Dolores, Edward and Robert Ouimette, Renee Pottle, Camela Deschene, and Michele Preston; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; special great-granddaughter Tori Preston; his “adopted” granddaughter Carrie Stanhope; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Edward’s life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
