Calais & Yarmouth – Eileen Janis Davidson, 77, died peacefully at her home on August 28, 2009 in Calais. She was born on July 24, 1932 to Ellsworth and Faye (Twitchell) McDonald in Portland. Eileen married Karl E. Davidson on June 22, 1951. She became a member of the Church of The Nazarene 47 years ago in Yarmouth, Maine; she also enjoyed attending other various congregations. Eileen was a member of the sewing guild in Calais; she was very creative and loved to challenge herself with most any arts & crafts project. Some of her favorites were sewing, quilting, knitting and cross-stitching. She also enjoyed growing plants and was an avid reader. Along with her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her husband in 1990. She is survived by 5 children, Dana K. Davidson and his wife, Mary of Calais, Karla G. Gannon of Nashville, TN, Ann L. LaCombe and her husband, Samuel, of Windham, Wanda S. Tocci of Yarmouth, and Paul M. Davidson and his wife Dawn of Westbrook; 1 sister, Ann M. Brown and her husband Danny of Wales; sixteen grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her faithful feline companion of 19 years, Pandorah. An informal gathering of friends will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 3rd at the Second Baptist Church, 21 Church St. in Calais. All are welcome. A second memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 5th at the Church of the Nazarene, Route 1, Yarmouth with Pastor Samuel LaCombe officiating; burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Pownal.
