On May 25, 2016, Elaine "Sellie" Inkster, of Eastport, Maine, went to be with the Lord after suffering complications of a stroke. She was born on February 19, 1951 to Marion Selwood Ward & Keith B. Selwood Sr., both of whom predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her stepfather, Richard Gray Ward.
Elaine was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She always had a smile for you regardless what kind of day she was having. Her professional life began when she was a hairdresser with Forestine Wheelock at Ye Beauty Nook in Calais for a number of years. Later she spent some time in retail at Mammoth Mart, Kings, and Ames. From 1982-1985, she was a dispatcher for the Calais Police Department in Calais, Maine. There were numerous other endeavors after that but her highest priority was being the best full-time single mom that she could be.
Elaine had many passions in life. She loved to sing. She was an extensive geneologist having traced more than five branches of family and local ancestry. Elaine dabbled in photography and had recently graduated from the online New York Photography School program. Elaine was also very craft oriented.
Elaine is survived by many people who will miss her greatly. Her husband, Forrest "Bud" Inkster of Eastport, ME; a daughter, Rhonda Pulk of Calais, ME; two granddaughters - Kristen Snider of Mechanic Falls, ME and Kayla Snider of Calais, ME; her great-grandbabies who were her world - Ryan Jr., Annabelle, & Baby Keith. Elaine is also survived by nine siblings - Keith B. Selwood Jr. of Eastport, ME; Helene Ahern of Biddeford Pool, ME; Corinne Grant of Rockland, ME; Sharon Rideout of Newburgh, ME; Gail Winterbottom of Shakopee, MN; Darlene Barker of Collinsville, IL; Marlene Mitchell of Silverdale, WA; Sheila Ziegler of Maple Lake, MN; Glenn Selwood of Westbrook, ME and their respective families. She also had several step siblings - David Ward of Revere, MA; Christine Curry of Waxhaw, NC; Charlie Ward of Mooseup, CT,;Walter Ward of North Pole, Alaska; and Ralph Ward of Methuen, MA. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special friends and other family are - her "other daughter" Sharlotte Kelly Grant of Standish, ME. The "Bodacious Broads" her Red Hat Group she loved you all so much but especially her best friend, Abigail Downes.
There will be a private gathering and interment at a later date at the Leland Cemetery in Perry, Maine. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
