Elaine Cynthia (Leighton) Redimarker of Addison, born January 26, 1949, left this earth on October 8, 2015 headed for her next great adventure. Brace yourself Heaven… Here she comes!
Elaine was loved and appreciated by all who knew her mostly for her uplifting sense of shock humor that usually led to red faces coupled with hysterical laughter. A CNA by trade, she kept her nursing home peers and guests entertained and enjoyed her job immensely as her passion in life was to take care of others.
Elaine was one that truly lived her life to the fullest. With her devoted husband Shareld Redimarker in tow, she could be found out on the water or on a fishing pier jigging for mackerel, or simply next to him knitting or sewing treasures for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was an avid "gardener" and enjoyed her home filled with lush greenery and brilliant flowers. Alongside her "plants", were walls that paid tribute to her family, boasting pictures and mementos of their lives together. The unmistakable aroma of her cherished plants could be detected from miles away.
The Christmas holiday was her favorite as she spent the summer growing her garden, and the fall months baking what some would deem the greatest tasting special brownies, whoopie pies, no bake cookies, and peanut butter balls on this planet. She and Shareld would then can their garden vegetables and create some amazing pickled treats that all recipients could savor throughout the year. Designing quilts was her forte and family and friends will cherish her creations as they wrap themselves in her warmth forever. Her stitching, sewing and canning was then shared with family and friends for Christmas.
Without her even knowing it, she taught us all some of the greatest lessons in life - to cherish your family and friends; to find joy in the simple things; to laugh daily, and to love those around you with all your heart and soul.
She was filled with love and shared it with all she knew. Excited for company that walked through her Addison home, she would beg you to sit, talk and share stories. She treasured moments with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and called to check on them daily.
Elaine left behind her husband Shareld Redimarker, her son Glen Alan Tenan Sr. and wife Heather, son Brian Tenan, grandchildren MaryEva Tenan and her partner Elliott Smith, Jessica Tenan and her fiancé Mark Smith, Glen Alan Tenan Jr. (Alan), Alex Henry and Courtney Henry; great grandchildren Jaxson and Aubrey; brother Fred Leighton and his wife Dorea Leighton, sister Sylvia Ouellette and husband Robert (Frenchy) Ouellette, Nieces and nephews Angel Willey and Joseph Leighton, Barry Leighton, Michelle Craig, Tammy Ouellette.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph Leighton and Pearl (Parker) Leighton and brother Donald Leighton. She leaves behind some cherished friends including, but not limited to, Geri (Gub), Joan (Dede), Teresa, Bea, and Diane. She will be missed terribly by her longtime companion Mickey.
Per Elaine’s insistence, there will be no memorial service and no funeral. Her ashes will be spread among her favorite gardens and at her family’s land on Bar Island in Millbridge. Donations can be made to the Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield on her behalf.
