Princeton – Elizabeth Mary Bailey, 89, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Collier’s Nursing Home in Ellsworth. Elizabeth was born in Princeton on April 21, 1923, daughter of the late Leon and Verna (Brown) Blake. After graduating from Princeton High School, she got married and raised her five children. Elizabeth started her career as a nurse’s aide at Park City Hospital in Bridgeport, CT, where she worked for many years. She eventually returned to Maine and worked at Calais Regional Hospital. After retiring she was in business with her daughter Judy making award winning porcelain dolls. Elizabeth enjoyed life, knitting sweaters for her family, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two children, Leon Bailey and Ann White; a granddaughter, Senta Bailey; and two brothers, Edmund Blake and David Brown. Surviving are three children, Verne Bailey of Princeton, Judith Ferris of Surry, and Bryce Bailey and his wife Cheryl of Waite; one sister, Edwina Harriman of Topsfield; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Princeton Cemetery. The family wishes to express loving thanks to the staff at Collier’s Nursing Home for their excellent care given to Elizabeth.
