Calais - Elizabeth "Betty" Greenlaw, 82, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2015 in Calais, Maine with her family by her side. Betty was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick on August 20, 1933 to Mary and Joseph Coffey. She graduated from Milltown High Class of 1950, and nursing school at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John, New Brunswick Class of 1954.
Betty worked as a nurse at Calais Regional Hospital and taught CNA courses at Calais High School and Washington County Technical College. Betty enjoyed traveling and being surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed. Betty is remembered with love by her children, Robert Greenlaw and wife Gayle of Calais, Maine, daughter Kathryn (Greenlaw) Godard and husband Michael of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren Rachelle Fitzsimmons, Kati Grass, Nathan Lutz, Grant Godard and Lance Godard; and three great grandchildren, Faith, Conner and Elijah. She is predeceased in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Louie F. Greenlaw.
The Greenlaw family would like to extend our appreciation to EMMC Cancer Care and CHCS Home Health and Hospice Services for their splendid care, and to our wonderful friends for all the love, encouragement and tangible support.
Visitation will be Friday, November 20th, at Mays Funeral Home, from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Kevin Martin, 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21st, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, 31 Calais Ave Calais, ME. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betty’s life. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Down East Hospice Volunteers, 24 Hospital Lane, Calais ME 04619.
