Calais – Elizabeth M. Tyler, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on January 24, 2015. Elizabeth was born September 23, 1931 to Philip and Nellie (Fullerton) Johnson in Upper Mills New Brunswick, Canada where she spent the first ten years of her life. Her family then relocated to South Street in Milltown, Maine where she attended the Methodist Church. In 1947, Betty married Harry Tyler in Calais, where together they raised their two sons. Betty enjoyed attending Meals for Me at the Palmer Lane Estates in her later years, but her fondest memories were times spent with her family and summers on Meddybemps Lake. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Harry Tyler; a grandson, Jonathan Tyler and nephew, Philip Carpenter. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Tyler, of Calais and Robert Tyler and his wife, Ingrid, of St. Stephen, NB; her sister, Lois Edna Carpenter and her husband, Jesse, of West Palm Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Dr. Susan Tyler, of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Steven Tyler and his wife April, of Hampton, NB; two great grandchildren, Eden and Caleb Tyler, of Hampton, NB; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Clark and her husband, Fred, of Waterville and Joyce Avery, of FL; eight nieces and nephews, Katherine Gliha , Karen Carpenter and her companion, Vivian Wu, John Clark and his wife, Kathy, Lynn Wood, Mike Avery and his wife, Darlene, Christopher Furber and his wife, Beth, and Julie Furber. A memorial service will be held at Calais Cemetery in the spring.
