Calais – Elva M. (Plant) Rayner passed away Monday, October 23, 2006 at a local nursing home. Elva was born March 3, 1912 in Canton, Mass., the daughter of Fred and Clara (McKay) Plant. She lived in Canton, Mass. for many years, where she worked for Plymouth Rubber until the time of her retirement at which time she moved to Maine to be with her son. She was predeceased by her sister, Claribel Mansfield and her brother, Fred Plant Jr. Elva is survived by two sons, G. Fred Rayner and his wife Linda of Baileyville, and Roy Rayner and his wife Sue of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandsons, Scott Rayner of New Jersey, Tim and Phillip Rayner of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister, Bertha Hamilton of Winchester, Mass; a brother, Roy Plant of Canton, Mass; and three special boys that called her Grammy Elva, Nathan, Evan and Drake Call. At Elva’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elva’s memory may be made to PAWS Animal Shelter, PO Box 182, Calais, ME 04619.
