Grand Lake Stream & Princeton – Erma S. Williams, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 04, 2009 in Grand Lake Stream. Erma was born in Princeton on July 24, 1915, daughter of the late Irvin and Inez (Corliss) Sprague. After graduating from Princeton High School, Class of 1933, Erma moved to Melrose, Mass. where she worked as a nanny for several years. Returning to Princeton, she met Harold Williams and was married shortly after. Along with her husband, she ran the family farm, planting potato’s and beans. Erma also worked for W.T. Grants in Calais and trained to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She loved the outdoors and spent many weekends with her husband working for Georgia Pacific as weekend security guards in the woods. Erma was a member of the former Advent Christian Church in Princeton where she played piano and taught Sunday school. In later years, she attended the Princeton Congregational Church. Erma was a former member of the Princeton Grange, was an instructor for the 4-H Club, and was active with the Big Lake Camp Meetings. She enjoyed bird watching, spending time at the family camp on Pine Island, gardening and cross-stitch embroidering. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Harold; and a granddaughter, Tina Bailey. Surviving are her two children, Sandra Bailey and her husband Harry of Grand Lake Stream, and Dean Williams and his wife Rosalie of Princeton; four grandchildren, Beth Ward and her husband Wendall of Belmont, Amy Damon and her companion Scott Bushey of Grand Lake Stream, Debra Bourgoin of Lee, and Michael Williams and his wife Beth of Presque Isle; seven great-grandchildren, Leah and Cote Ward of Belmont, Bailey and Billy Damon of Grand Lake Stream, Brandon Bourgoin of Lee, and Jacob and Taylor Williams of Presque Isle.
