Obituary for Ethel B Hartford

Calais – Ethel B. Hartford, 87, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at a Calais nursing home. Ethel was born in Calais on June 9, 1921, daughter of the late Walter and Sarah (Coaldwell) Boyd. She was employed at Wareknitters, Northeast Industries, and later as a Claims Adjustor for the State of Maine Unemployment Office. Ethel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #3 in Calais. She enjoyed swimming, dancing, riding her Wave Runner, playing cards, knitting, and spending time with her family. Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Denyer; a step-son, Donald Hartford; and her sister, Martha Vining. Surviving are her husband, Harold “Shorty” Hartford of Calais; her son, Ronald Denyer and wife Joan of Saco; two step-sons, William Hartford and wife Karen of Mass., and Wayne Hartford and wife Linda of Fla.; two granddaughters, Kimberly Oliver and husband Randy of Limerick, and Belinda Barron of West Baldwin; and four great-grandchildren, Ronnie and Corey Oliver, and Sarah and Joshua Barron. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
