Calais – Eugene F. Greco, 76, died on Monday, April 21, 2008 at a Bangor hospital. Gene was born in Baileyville on August 4, 1931, son of the late Samuel and Antoniette (Abate) Greco. He served in the US Air Force in Africa. Gene married Dorothy Allison Kerr in November of 1961. He was employed as an electrician for Georgia Pacific for over 25 years. Gene was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 149. He also was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Georgia Pacific, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, St. Croix Country Club, Sherman Bros. Post 3 American Legion, the St. Croix Historical Society, and volunteered with the local food pantry. Gene was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, sailing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Besides his parents, Gene was predeceased by his loving wife Allison; a sister, Tresa Greco; and two brothers, Joseph and Ernest Greco. Surviving are a brother, Arthur Greco and his wife Gerry of Cumberland Foreside; two sisters, Linda Lang and Evelyn Greco, both of Wethersfield, CT; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Frank Morin 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais. After the service, Gene will be laid to rest beside his wife in Calais Cemetery.
