Obituary for Eugene Ernest Pinkham

Calais – Eugene Ernest Pinkham Sr., 73, passed away at his home on Friday, November 18, 2011, with his loving family by his side. Gene was born in East Harpswell on May 7, 1938. He attended school in Portland and enlisted in the US Army at the age of 16. After serving in the Army, Gene entered the US Air Force, serving as a sheet metal worker in aviation. Gene was honorably discharged from the Air Force and worked for the Department of Defense as a sheet metal worker at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA, retiring in 1993. While living in Sacramento, he returned to Maine on medical leave and met his love, Kenene Brown, in July, 1969 and they were married that September. When his wife Kenene retired in 1998, they moved to Silver Springs, FL and summered in Maine. Gene was a member of Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion in Calais and enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, golfing and playing bingo. He was predeceased by his mother Elvira Woodman; and a sister Joyce Dozois and her husband Bob. Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Kenene Pinkham; seven children, Eugene Pinkham Jr., Dianna Pinkham and her companion Damon, Reny Aspuria, Raelean Gorrell and Lito Gaddis, all of Sacramento, CA, Rick Aspuria of Roy, UT, and Sandi Weidner and her husband Michael of Eagan, MN; one sister, Lois Davenport of Portland; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his feline companion Silly. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Calais Cemetery.
