Calais – Eva Arvilla Bohanon, 87, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at Calais Regional Hospital. Eva was born in Charlotte on March 14, 1928, daughter of the late Sinton and Lottie (James) Davis. She attended school in Charlotte and worked at the local sardine factories until beginning her career at Ware Knitters, where she worked as a stitcher for over 20 years. On August 22, 1956, she married Carlton Bohanon in Calais. Following Eva’s retirements, she worked part-time in housekeeping for the International Motel. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, birdwatching, and most importantly, her family.
In addition to her parents, Eva was predeceased by her first husband, Bernard Lee; two grandsons, Corey Wentworth and Stacy Furlong; three brothers, Clayton, Roger, and Floyd; and three sisters, Charlotte, Violet, and Avis. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Carlton Bohanon; three daughters, Evelyn Belanger and husband Russell of Buxton, Brenda Spear and companion Rodney Leighton of Baring, and Pam Mitchell and husband Jeffrey of Levant; six grandchildren, Darrin Furlong of Shapleigh, Jeffrey Furlong of Gardiner, Jeremy Furlong of Waterboro, John Fitzsimmons and wife Tasheena of Calais, Nathan Spear of Baring, and Nicholas Mitchell of Corinth; ten great-grandchildren; a sister Adeline Lee of Calais; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Calais Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
