Robbinston – Ewal Garfield Walker, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 09, 2010 at the Calais Regional Hospital. Ewal was born in Zion, Arkansas on June 15, 1924, son of the late Perry and Martha (White) Walker. Ewal had to leave school at an early age to help his family on the farm. He joined the U.S. Air Force where he completed his education and served his country for 20 years, becoming a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. On April 18, 1950, he married Virginia May Clark in Bangor. Ewal was a faithful member of the Perry Congregational Church and a former member of the V.F.W. in Eastport. He enjoyed boating, lobster fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, Ewal we predeceased by two brothers, James L. Walker and James C. Walker; a half brother Delbert Walker, and a half sister Zilla Moudy. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia Walker; their daughter Lea J. Sullivan and her husband Joseph of Robbinston; two sisters, Brucie McElroy and Maxine Miller and her husband Dave; two grandchildren, Katherine Sullivan of Portland and Matthew Sullivan and his wife Kristina of Bangor; one great-granddaughter Mya Sullivan; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion Feather. A celebration of Ewal’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 12 at the Perry Congregational Church, Shore Rd., Perry. Donations in Ewal’s memory may be made to either the Labor of Love Food Pantry in Eastport or P.A.W.S. in Calais. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
