Princeton – Flora Beaton Leavitt, 96, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at a Calais nursing home. Flora was born in Monticello, December 10, 1910, daughter of the late Archie and Ella (Miller) Beaton. She retired from the Princeton Elementary School where she was a cook in the cafeteria. Flora received the Boston Post Cane for being the eldest citizen in the Town of Princeton. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Leavitt. Surviving are a son, Elmer Beaton and wife Phyllis of Monticello; two daughters, Edna Newman of Lubec and Joanne Day of Princeton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Princeton Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
