Baileyville - Frances Pauline Bires, 93, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Mid Coast Senior Health Center in Brunswick, Maine. Pauline was born in Milltown, New Brunswick on August 28, 1922. She was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Burgess) Gephard. She graduated from Milltown High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in the office of Canadian Cotton, Ltd in Milltown for fourteen years preparing financial and production reports. She married Joseph Francis Bires on October 20, 1952. Pauline then made family life her priority. Years later she returned to work at "It's a Small World Preschool" in Baileyville for fifteen years. Pauline's favorite activity was spending time with family and friends. She loved to bake and felt great joy sharing her baking with others. Visitors could always enjoy a home baked dessert and friendship at Pauline's home. She was a Communicant at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Baileyville. She had a devout prayer life and found strength in her faith.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Bires; two brothers, James and George Gephard; and two sisters, Mary and Margaret Gephard. Surviving are her three daughters, Dianne Ouellet and her husband Carmel of Rockport, Jolene Bires and Mike Ozga of Durham, and Deborah Bires of So. Portland; three grandchildren, Allison Ouellet and her husband Gerald Rea of Madison, Indiana, Carolyn Ouellet of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Christine Ouellet of Rockport; two cousins, Joan Marie Casey and Alice Thibault; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a wide circle of friends.
Visiting hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 14 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, Maine. A memorial mass will be held at St. James the Greater Roman Catholic Church on Friday, January 15 at 10:00 a.m. in Baileyville, Maine. Spring internment at Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
