Frances Margaret Mulcahy, 84, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Calais Community Hospital. Fran was born in Southampton, New York, on July 11, 1938, daughter of Roger and Stella (Bartosiak) Snitko.
After graduating from Southampton High School, Fran attended college and then started her career with the New York Surrogate’s Court, from which she retired as Deputy Chief Clerk. In June, 1966, she married Christopher Mulcahy Sr. After Fran and Chris were both retired, they moved to Charlotte, Maine and settled on Pennamaquan Lake. Fran was a Communicant of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish where she volunteered in many capacities. She also served as the Parish Representative with the Labor of Love Food Pantry in Eastport, a volunteer with the Thrift Store at Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry in Calais, Town of Charlotte Historical Society, volunteered at the Charlotte Fire Dept. dinners, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her husband Christopher Mulcahy Sr.; stepson Christopher Mulcahy Jr.; stepdaughter Kathy White; and a niece Nicole Wilson. Surviving are her son Kevin Mulcahy of Bronx, NY; her sister Helen North and husband Peter of Edmeston, NY; and a nephew Leonard Lonski of Edmeston, NY.
