Frances Wilson (Spear)

Eastport – Frances “Billy” Wilson, 81, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, February 24, 2009 at Eastport Memorial Nursing home.Billy was born in Eastport, April 30, 1927, to the late Hartford and Lucy (Cross) Spear. On February 2, 1947 Billy married John Wilson, also of Eastport. They resided there until their deaths. Billy worked at many businesses in Eastport including the sardine factories, Camick's Drugstore and JJ Newberry's. She was known for her dry sense of humor and enjoyed playing Beano when she was able.She spent the last 3 years in the nursing home where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband John Wilson; a brother, Roy Cunningham; and 4 sisters, Vesta Robinson, Irene Cunningham, Inez Magnano, and Elsie Spear.Surviving are her daughter, Irene Rogers, and her husband Skip of Dennysville, a grandson Chris Stevens, of Cutler and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport, in the spring to honor both Billy and Johnny, with Pastor Lynn Rutledge officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Billy’s memory may be made to the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home, 23 Boynton St., Eastport, ME 04631.
