Calais – Francis “Sunny” Raymond Beaulieu Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at a Bangor hospital. Francis was born in Carrabassett, son of the late Frank and Rilla (Coleman) Beaulieu. He graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1950. Francis was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. Francis married Ruth Deacon in Calais on March 31, 1954. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Todd’s Hardware Store in Calais for 37 years. After selling the store, he owned and operated Beaulieu’s Lock Smith. Francis was a member of the Calais United Methodist Church and a former member of the Spednic Club in Baileyville and the St. Croix Bowling Club. He enjoyed fishing and flying his airplane. In addition to his parents, Francis was predeceased by a son, Harold L. Beaulieu; his sister, Ida Rose Ambrose; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Taylor. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth Beaulieu; his son Francis “Ray” Beaulieu Jr. and his companion Jill Skillings of Calais; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In accordance with Francis’ wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Homes, Calais & Eastport.
