Obituary for Frederick Cecil Boyd

Calais – Frederick Cecil Boyd, 86, passed away Monday, March 09, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. Cecil was born in St. John, NB on January 3, 1929, son of the late Edward and Blanche (Rosborough) Boyd. He attended Calais Schools and entered the US Army where he served as a MP in Germany during the Korean War. After his service, Cecil returned home and married Jean Elizabeth Lunn on May 24, 1955 in St. Stephen. He worked for various convenience stores until he purchased Boyd Texaco, which he operated for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. Cecil was a member of First Baptist Church in Calais, and Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, painting, and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean E. Boyd; five sisters, Julia Andrews, Marion Kierstead, Lorraine Ward, Joyce DeMarsico, and Jean Jamieson. Surviving are his daughter Debra Worster and husband Daniel of Baileyville; two grandchildren, Amanda Hall and husband Matthew of Shrewsbury, MA, and Craig Worster of Hudson, FL; great-granddaughter Isabella Jean Hall; a brother Earl Boyd and his wife Ann of Millinocket; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion Mary Jane. A graveside service will be announced in the spring.
