Gail Kay Beckwith

Calais – Gail Kay Beckwith, 92, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 in Calais. Gail was born in Juneau, Alaska on June 6, 1920, daughter of the late Valjean and Gladys (Tripp) Austin. After graduating from Lincoln Union High School in Lincoln, CA, Class of 1938, she furthered her education at College of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, Sacramento Junior College, University of Oregon in Eugene, OR, and Western School of Business in Sacramento. Gail retired from her civil service position at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. She was a member of the Church of the Living Stone in Baileyville and enjoyed gardening and cooking. In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by her first husband Raymond Hazelwood; her second husband Frederick Breckinridge, and her third husband Darrell Beckwith. Surviving are her son Michael Breckinridge and his wife Cathy of Calais; and three grandchildren, Raquel Altuglu and her husband Murat of Pembroke Pines, FL, Daniela Tumipamba and her husband Juan Pablo of Quito, Ecuador, and Rebecca Stewart and her husband Oraine of Stamford, CT. A celebration of Gail’s life will be held 2 p.m. on November 3rd at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
