Obituary for George Purdy

Indian Township – George P. Purdy, 66, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Calais Regional Hospital. George was born in Princeton on August 15, 1940, son of the late Edward and Katherine (Socoby) Purdy. He married Judy Hitchcock on July 9, 1973. George was employed as a truck driver for many years with United Van Lines, based in Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, walking, traveling, and spending time with his family. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by a daughter, Georgia Purdy. Surviving are his wife Judy of Indian Township; eight children, Peter, Linda, and Priscilla Purdy, all of Oklahoma, Rita Purdy of Indian Township, Edward Purdy of Missouri, Tanna Ackley of East Machias, Mary Purdy of Calais, and Jessica Purdy of Indian Township; a sister, Hazel Brown of Lewiston; a brother, Lester Purdy of Indian Township; grandchildren, Timmy and Donavon Blue, Cheyanne Lewey, Anjelita Muniz, Marissa Ackley, and many others in Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; good friends, Chuckie and Janice Howard, Roger and Joseph Socobasin, and Matt and Terri Dana; and many other close friends. Visitation will be held at the home of Matt and Terri Dana, 7 Fox Den, Indian Township until 10 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Mission, Peter Dana Point.
