Calais – Georgia Maltezos, 60, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Calais Regional Hospital. Georgia was born in Kittery on December 10, 1951, daughter of Harry Maltezos and Judith (McGarvey) Kelly. She graduated from Derryfield High School in Manchester, NH, Class of 1970. Georgia furthered her education at Yale University, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in 1974, as well as her Master’s in Divinity in 1978. She stayed in the New Haven, CT area for over 20 years, working various jobs as well as helping at Ebenezer Chapel. She moved to Eastport and worked for McDonald’s in Machias and with local churches. Georgia then went to Charlotte, NC until returning to Maine in 2006. Most recently she worked for Burger King and Walmart, as well as having her own church, Apostolic Faith Chapel in Calais. Georgia loved music, playing the piano and giving piano lessons. She was predeceased by her father, Harry; and a sister Dawn Bissonnette. Surviving are her mother Judith Kelly of Calais; two sisters, Lynda Levesque and her husband Richard of Nashua, NH, and Bethany Small and her husband Loring of Severna Park, MD; nieces and nephew, Sarah Garner and her husband Michael and their son Wyatt of NH, Danielle Small and Loring “Ryan” Small of MD, and Angela Bissonnette and her children Ashley and Marcus of FL; many cousins and friends; and her feline companion Sammy. Visiting hours will be held 10 – 11 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Georgia’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Eastport.
