Eastport – Geraldine “Gerry” I. Baxter, 71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Gerry was born on June 4, 1935 in Eastport. She was the daughter of the late Virginia and Melvin (Barrett) of Eastport. Gerry attended Eastport schools, and graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1954. She married Lawrence L. Baxter on June 30, 1959 in Eastport. They moved to Kittery in 1966 where she worked at the Homestead Nursing Home and later at the Eastport Nursing Home. Gerry is survived by her sister, Elaine Hall; her daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Richard Farris of Eastport; three sons, James Baxter and wife Laura of Kittery, John F.K. Baxter of Eastport, and Lawrence L. Baxter Jr. of Eastport; five grandchildren, Melissa Farris, Derek Baxter, Shanna Baxter, Jessica Baxter, and Bradley Baxter; an aunt, Irma E. Mullen of Portland; two uncles, James Cook and wife Pat of Eastport, and Donald Barrett and wife Joan of Orrington; a special nephew, Melvin Hall and wife Sandra of Charlotte; and many special cousins and friends. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday by Father Eugene Gaffey at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Eastport. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport.
