Geraldine Viola Kinney

Eastport – Geraldine Viola Kinney, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Geraldine was born in Eastport on October 31, 1920, daughter of the late Walter and Ida (Dodge) Kierstead. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Pythian Sisters.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her husband Alden Kinney Sr.; a son, Alden Kinney Jr.; and several sisters and brothers. Surviving are her three sons, Kenneth Matthews and wife Ellen of Roslindale, MA, Harlon Kinney of Princeton, and David Kinney and wife Debora of Cooper; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Kierstead and wife Gert, and Dave Kierstead and wife Dot; many nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Inez Pastore and Patricia Craig.

A celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel. Burial will take place in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport.
