Obituary for Gertrude Anne Hastings

Baileyville – Gertrude Anne Hastings, 92, died Tuesday, July 04, 2006 at a Calais nursing home. Gertrude was born in Richabucto, N.B. on September 2, 1913, daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Robichaud. She married Daniel W. Hastings Sr. on September 6, 1935 in Calais. Gertrude was a Communicant of St. James the Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville; She enjoyed teaching Round Dancing in Maine and in Florida for many years with her husband, spending time with her family, and wintering in Florida. Gertrude will be remembered for the many dish clothes she made for the St. James the Greater Church Bazaar. She was predeceased by two sisters, Kathleen Coleman and Lillian Brockway; and a brother, Richard Robinson. Surviving are her loving husband of over 70 years, Daniel Hastings Sr.; a son, Daniel Hastings Jr. and wife Louise of Gorham; a sister, Ethel Mann of Brewer; a sister-in-law, Joyce Somers of Brewer; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
