Gertrude C McVicar

Calais – Gertrude C. McVicar, 88, passed away quietly in her sleep surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Friday, March 19, 2009 at the Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center. Gertrude was born in Heathland, N.B. on January 13, 1922, daughter of the late John and Jessie Thibeau. She worked for many years in the cotton mill in St. Stephen until she married Hazen McVicar. They moved to Baileyville where she raised their five children. Gertrude was a faithful member of the Church of the Living Stone in Baileyville. She enjoyed traveling, going on car rides, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Hazen McVicar Sr.; a grandson John Kulikowski; a son-in-law Jeffrey Pederson; and several siblings. Surviving are her five children, Barbara Parmentier and her husband Chuck of Debary, FL, Nina Pederson of Baileyville and her companion Dave Murphy of Princeton, Hazen McVicar Jr. and his wife Tina of Olath, KS, Doughlas Kenneth McVicar of Skowhegan, and Jennie Kinney and her husband Rusty of Bailevyille; three sisters, Illetta, Mary and Gladys, all of N.B. Canada; twelve grandchildren, Nancy Ruiz and her husband Angel of FL, Laura Centenno of FL, Jessica Robbins of FL, Arthur Allen and his wife Mindy of Alexander, Brandy Allen and her companion Gary Townsend of Baileyville, Amanda Allen and her companion Allard Health Cilley of Princeton, Angela McVicar of KS, Sean McVicar of KS, Russell Kinney and his girlfriend Tiffany Lingley of Alexander, Joshua Kinney and his fiancé Cortney Pyle of Alexander, Christopher Kinney and his fiancé Kasey Roussell of Calais, and Stephanie Kinney of Baileyville and her boyfriend Scott Pottle of Calais; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends including Alice, Georgia and Gloria; and her “grand dog” Curly Sue.
