Obituary for Gordon Philip Scott

Baileyville – Gordon P. Scott, 90, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Baileyville. Gordon was born in Portage Lake on December 23, 1920, son of the late Phillip and Mabel (Dube) Scott. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army at the Battle of the Bulge in the Hertgen Forrest where he received many awards and medals, including the Purple Heart. Gordon was employed for St. Croix Paper Co., Georgia Pacific and most recently for Lake Utopia Paper Mill. He was a member of William T. Wren Post #23 American Legion in Baileyville, Odd Fellows in Baileyville, Lions Club in Calais, and Lewey’s Island Lodge #138 A.F. & A.M. of Princeton. In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by a son, R. Brent Scott; his brother Gerald Scott; and three sisters, Frances Plourde, Winona Tweedy and Joyce Smith. Surviving are his two children, Francis Scott and his wife Annette of Baileyville, and Sharon Simpson and her husband David of North Berwick; Mary Scott, widow of Brent; grandchildren Janel Scott of Baileyville, Karen Randall, her husband Matthew, and his great grandchildren McKenzie, Mason, and Morgan of Rollingsford, NH, Gary LeBlanc, Jr of Providence, R.I., and Brian and Bruce Scott of Fairfield; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Gagne of Eagle Lake and Esther Scott Pelletier of Claire, NB; special friends Louise Deschene of Princeton and Gordon and Mimi MacArthur; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
