Big Lake Township - Grover E. Brown, loving husband of Peta (MacArthur) Brown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on May 28, 2020 at the age of 69 following a long illness. He was born in Plantation 21 on January 14, 1951 to Martin and Genevieve Brown. Grover enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and proudly served his Country until 1974 as a member of the 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. It was in the military where Grover learned his love for truck driving, a career he then held for over 44 years, including the 10 he spent running his own trucking company.
Grover had an amazing work ethic and kind heart. He loved cooking for everyone, fast muscle cars, drag racing, watching his favorite shows and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a die-hard New England Patriots fan since 1975.
He is survived by his Mother Genevieve, his loving wife Peta Brown of Big Lake Township, five children, Dawn Houle and husband Ronnie of Manchester, NH, Ryan Brown and partner Melissa Bartlett of Calais, Candice Benson and husband Brian of Bedford, NH, Curtis Brown and fiancé Danielle Pettingill of Baileyville, and Anthony Brown and partner Avery Sanborn of Bangor.
He is also survived by his brother Jerry Brown of Princeton, and his many grandchildren, Seth Brown, Mason Houle, Madison Houle, Haileigh Brown, Curtis Brown Jr., Jordan Featherson, Katerina Benson, Riley Benson and Victoria Benson; an uncle Dale Jones and wife Bernita of Princeton; two aunts, Velma Brown of St. Petersburg, FL, and Shirley Dwelley of Princeton; as well as his in-laws Ronald and Patricia MacArthur of Princeton, his canine companion Girlie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grover was preceded in death by his Father and Grandparents as well as his Brother Raymond Brown Sr., sister Patricia
Brown and many other loved ones.
The family would like to thank the team at Togus VA Hospice and the Fisher House Foundation for their devotion and compassion to Grover and his family through this difficult time.
A Celebration of Grover’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Princeton Baptist Church, 90 Main St., Princeton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Grover loved animals, especially his long time companion LuLu. In memory of Grover the family would ask that donations be made to the Ark Animal Shelter.
