Harland S Lyons

Perry and Zephyrhills, FL - Harland S. Lyons, 86, transitioned to his new home with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 11, 2007 in Zephyrhills, Florida where he has lived for over 20 years. He was raised in Dennysville, but lived in Perry after he married Lila Lyons of Perry. His favorite sport was baseball and he played on the Perry baseball team. His favorite team was the Boston Red Sox and he was excited whenever he got to attend a game to see them play. Harland was a multi-faceted man. He rebuilt Lila’s old school house on Route 1 in Perry where he raised in his family and later built the building that housed “Lila’s Donuts”. He worked retail at Perry Farmers Union store, until he joined Lila in the Donut business. For 11 years he delivered donuts to retails grocers throughout Washington County. When the business was sold, he talked Lila into moving to New Hampshire where he was intrigued with being a Jewelry retail associate and then he sold Electrolux vacuum cleaners. He was then known as “the Electrolux Man.” When he retired to Zephyrhills, Florida, he turned to Real Estate and played golf. Harland was a past master of Perry Grange and a member of Perry Baptist Church while raising his family. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Zephyrhills after retiring to Florida where he proud to be an usher and always enjoyed greeting the people. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lila Lyons; 4 children, Sheila Spaulding of Tampa, Fl; Vaughn Lyons of Zephyrhills, Fl., Joyce Ryder of Washougal, WA., and Judy Soucy of Milton, NH. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Smith of Calais, Me and Zephyrhills, Fl., 3 nieces and a cousin, Lewis Lyons of Dennysville.
