Obituary for Harold F Fitzgibbon

Baileyville – Harold F. Fitzgibbon, 82, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Calais Regional Hospital. Harold was born in Old Orchard Beach on May 7, 1931, son of the late James and Laura (Morin) Fitzgibbon. He graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School and furthered his education at Boston Trade School where he became a machinist.

Harold worked in Saco for a short time until relocating to Connecticut where he worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. On March 20, 1959, he married his love, Linda Dow in Meriden, CT. They relocated back to Maine where he was employed for G.W. Bliss & Co. in South Portland until their closing. At that time, Harold moved to Baileyville and worked at Georgia Pacific for over 20 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed stock car racing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Harold was a member of the International Association of Machinist & Aerospace Workers where he served as President for his local chapter.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Nellie Murphy, and a brother William Fitzgibbon. Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years Linda Fitzgibbon; two sons, Jay Fitzgibbon of Pensacola, FL, and Michael Fitzgibbon of Bath; one granddaughter, Krystarra Fitzgibbon of Pensacola, FL; a sister Rita Potvin and her husband Paul of Old Orchard Beach; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion Zachary.
