Obituary for Harry Norman Small Jr.

Perry- Harry N. Small Jr. passed away at his home on Sunday, September 28,2014, after a brief illness. He was born in Calais on May 10, 1940, the son of Myra (Trott) and Harry N. Small Sr. Junior was a life-long clam digger, avid hunter and fisherman who loved to share his stories with family and friends. He lived a simple life and loved his job and children more than anything of all. Junior often stated, "He didn't have much, but he was the richest man in the world because he had five wonderful children." He often said, he had dug clams his entire life and never had a day he did not love his job. He would go to work early just to watch the tide go out.
Junior left a legacy of making a honest hard days work, by mentoring many of the local clam diggers over the years. He was predeceased by his father Harry Small Sr., mother Myra Small, his brothers; Horace and Mariner Small, and his sister, Rosemarie Lavelle. He leaves his wife Priscilla, five children, daughters; Mary Brillard and husband Rick of Dover N.H., Sheila Small of Perry, Vicki Turner and partner Kerry of Somersworth, N.H., and Polly Sullivan and husband Jeff of Eastport, one son, Loring Small and wife Beth of Serverna Park, Maryland, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Jeanette Trott and Ethel Hall, several nieces and nephews, his buddy Aiden, many clamming buddies, and special friends; Bumper, Bob M., and Zack.

A celebration of Junior’s life will be held 1 p.m. Friday October 3rd, 2014 at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. Donations in Junior’s memory may be made to Sarah's House of Maine, c/o EMHS Foundation, PO Box 931, Bangor, ME 04401.
