CALAIS – Harry Austin Tyler, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 05, 2012. He was born to Harry E. and Marjorie H. (Johnson) Tyler in Calais on February 22, 1929. He attended local schools, served his country in the National Guard and enjoyed many wonderful years married to Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by two sons, Kenneth Tyler of Calais and Robert Tyler and his wife Ingrid of St. David Ridge, New Brunswick; two grandchildren, Steven Tyler and his wife April of Hampton, N.B. and Dr. Susan Tyler of Halifax, Nova Scotia; two sisters, Shirley Clark and her husband Fred of Waterville and Joyce Avery of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister-in-law, Lois Carpenter and her husband Jake of West Palm Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins and the most beautiful great granddaughter, Eden Tyler of Hampton, N.B. Harry retired from Georgia Pacific paper mill after 41 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; he loved to spend time on Meddybemps Lake or relax and play card games, particularly cribbage and pitch but the time spent with his family was most important to Harry. Harry was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Carol Furber and his grandson, Jonathan Tyler. A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at Calais Cemetery next summer. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
