Alexander – Hazel M. Carter, 72, went to be in God’s loving care on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center in Calais. Hazel was born in Princeton, New Jersey on October 20, 1938, daughter of the late Walter and Hazel (Byrd) Valone. Beginning in high school, she started working at Belle Tell, where she worked for 7 years. After moving to Maine she was employed for over 22 years by Indian Township Health Clinic and Education Department. Surviving are her husband of over 50 years Albert Carter; their son Kurt Carter and his wife Lori; her siblings, Jim Valone of New Jersey, Alice Morley of Connecticut, Alberta Drake of North Carolina, Henry Valone of Pennsylvania, and her youngest sister Diane Durbin of Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews and her grandchildren Kelly and Taylor Carter who used to love to go swimming and fishing with their Grammy at Squirrel Point in the summer. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Until we meet again, all our love, Al, Kurt and family. In keeping with Hazel’s request, there will be no services.
