Calais – Helen E. Forsyth, 80, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at a Bangor health care facility. Helen was born in Tower Hill, N.B. on November 27, 1927, daughter of the late Melvin and Rose (Lord) Johnston. She retired from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service following 20 years of service at Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge in Baring. In September of 1947, Helen married Earle Forsyth in Tower Hill, N.B. She was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Calais and enjoyed playing cards, puzzles and reading. Helen was predeceased by her husband Earle in 2004; a son Peter Forsyth in 1986; and two brothers, Austin and Allison Johnston. Surviving are two sons, Gerald “Bud” Forsyth of Two Rivers, WI, and Mark Forsyth and his wife Betty Ann Woodard of Goleta, CA; three sisters, Lorenne Gowan of St. Stephen, N.B., Helena Tibbs and her husband Lee of Lincoln, and Jacqueline Daly and her husband Michael of St. Stephen, N.B.; two sisters-in-law, Glenna Johnston and Shirley Johnston, both of St. Stephen, N.B.; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at St. Anne’s Episcopal, Church St., Calais. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
