Helen Augusta Gray

Calais – Helen A. Gray, 93, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at a Calais nursing home. Helen was born in Oak Hill, N.B. Canada on June 17, 1915, daughter of the late Oscar and Harriette (Grant) Rideout. In the 1950’s, Helen and her cousin started Helen & Ann’s Bakery in Calais, which in later years, was known as Helen’s Bakery. Helen closed the business when she retired in the 1970’s. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Marvin and Kenneth Rideout. Surviving are her son, Larry Gray of Calais; her daughter, Linda Richard of St. John, N.B.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Richard and wife Shari of St. John, N.B., Pamela Richard of St. Stephen, N.B., and Joshua Richard of St. John, N.B.; and three great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Dawson. A private graveside will be held in the Calais Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
