Eastport – H. Richard Robertson, 77, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Calais Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Richard was born in Boston, MA on July 9, 1932, son of the late Lindsay Herman and Mary Beatrice (MacDonald) Robertson. He attended Catholic School in Boston and was an altar boy for the church. At the age of 17, Richard joined the U.S. Air Force serving as a teletype operator during the Korean War. He returned home for a short period but his love for his country led him to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he also served in the Korean War. Following the war, Richard worked for Baker Brothers Construction Company in Boston until beginning his career for the Veterans Hospital in Brockton, MA where he worked for 23 years. On February 9th, 1957, he married Carolyn J. Suddy. Richard was very active in his communities and the Democratic Party. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #697 in Whitman, MA and a member of the Masonic lodge in Hanson, MA. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and spending time with his loved ones. His most cherished memories were those spent with his wife of 53 years, his children and grandchildren. Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic and determination to provide for his family, as well as his giving personality and sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William and Lindsay Robertson. Surviving are his loving wife Carolyn of Eastport; six children, Richard Robertson and his wife Janet of Whitman, MA, Lynn Hansen and her husband Paul of Whitman, MA, Kenneth Robertson and his wife Lee of Falmouth, MA, Carol Reed and her husband Dan of Pembroke, Janice Reed and her husband Scott of Charlotte, and Deborah Rosen and her husband Michael of Pembroke, MA; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Earnest Robertson and his wife Eva of Nova Scotia.
