Irene Moore

Calais & Pembroke – Irene Moore, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at her son’s home in Baileyville. Irene was born in Pembroke on July 2, 1913, daughter of the late Alonzo and Erma (Taylor) Lyons. She enjoyed attending services at the Baptist Churches in Pembroke and Milltown. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family and visits from her pastor, Bob Hinton. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Herbert (Weston) Moore in 2005; two brothers; and three sisters. Surviving are a daughter, Helen Elsemore and her husband Dennis of Princeton; two sons, Waverly Moore and his wife Bette of Bradenton, FL, and Gary Moore Sr. and his wife Donna of Baileyville; a sister, Merna Damon and her husband Laurence of Charlotte; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law; and her special feline friend, Bethany, whom she adored. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Calais Cemetery.
