Ivah Althea Daggett

Baileyville & Topsfield – Ivah Althea Daggett, 82, was surrounded by her family when she was reunited with her husband of 57 years Charles "Chick" Daggett, January 19, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. Ivah was born April 29, 1932 to Therman and Albina (Cochran) LaPlant in Codyville. She spent her childhood in Codyville and attended Lee Academy where she later served on the board of directors. Ivah enjoyed serving her community, she was a member of the Topsfield school board for many years, a past member of the Eastern Star Royal Chapter No. 145 in Princeton and owned and operated, with Chick, both the Charles Daggett Inc. logging company and then Daggett’s Country Market from 1982 until 2007, both in Topsfield. She loved to go square dancing with Chick in her younger years and will be remembered as a wonderful cook by not only her family but also by the Topsfield community as she baked a countless number of pies and desserts for her store and community suppers. She was a brilliant storyteller who lived for her family. Ivah will be sadly missed by her three children, Wayne Daggett and his wife Dianne of Topsfield, Cindy DelMonaco and her husband Edmund Jr. of Baileyville and Leslie Daggett and companion Laurie of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Danielle Daggett and her fiancée Dan, Corey Daggett and his fiancée Tracy, Amanda DelMonaco-Bell and her husband John, Melinda “Jean” DelMonaco, Meagan DelMonaco, Leslie Monk and her husband Scott and Melanie Cochran and her husband Chris; eleven great grandchildren, Micheal, Everett, Madisyn, Ethan, Brendon, Kylie, Ayden, Evan, Jenna, Grayson, and Easton; her brother Raleigh LaPlant and his wife Joanne of Panama City, FL; her special sister-in-law Priscilla Daggett; brother-in-law Douglas Daggett and her special canine companion, Smokey. Ivah was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles Daggett and her brother and sister-in-law, Murray and Frances LaPlant. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23rd at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. immediately following visitation.
