Obituary for Jack A. Henry

CALAIS – John Albert Henry, 86, passed away peacefully January 8, 2014 with his wife at his side. Jack was born to John and Louise (Duffin) Henry on February 10, 1927 in Mechanicville, New York. Jack grew up in New Brunswick, Canada where he graduated from McAdam High School. He then went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering and was also a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the US Army Corp of Engineers serving two years. Jack married Janet Moffitt in Calais on June 23, 1957 and together they moved to New York where he began his career as a civil engineer with the New York State Department of Transportation. Jack lived for his family; some of his fondest memories were spending time in the woods hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brothers, Joe Duffin and Charles Henry. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Janet Henry; two sons, Mark Henry and his wife Cathy of Madrid, New York and Scott Henry and his wife Robyn of Jefferson, Maine; four grandchildren, Leah, Luke, John and Josey and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Jack’s life will be announced in the spring.
