Pleasant Point – James Stephen Barnes, 37, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 4, 2007. Jimmy was born in Eastport, November 6, 1969, son of Maxwell and Mary (Morrison) Barnes. He did a lot of seasonal work, digging clams, picking sweet grass and tipping. Jimmy also worked as a carpenter when he could. He helped his uncle Tony build a camp in Springfield for his dad. Jimmy’s passion in life was hunting in Jackman with all of his buddies, Roger, JD, John, Rocky, Jeff, Billy, Wade and Darren. One of his memorable moments was last year when he was in Jackman hunting while Jonathan Papelbon was there. He had his picture taken with him, so you can really say he was excited when the Red Sox won the World Series. Jimmy loved all of his nieces and nephews. He was one of the kids himself, playing baseball, basketball, hunting and teaching his girls and Skilah how to ride a bike without training wheels. Surviving are his parents, Maxwell and Mary Barnes; and two daughters, Keisha and Karina Barnes. Jimmy held a special place in his heart for the mother of children, Brenda Green. Also surviving are his two sisters, Lisa DeMolet and her husband Timothy of Pleasant Point, and Amy Barnes and her companion Basil Leighton Jr. of Charlotte; three brothers, Joseph Barnes and his wife Dorothy, David Barnes and his companion Jennifer Lewey, and Walter Sockabasin, all of Pleasant Point; his “brotha” Darren Paul and his wife Donna, and their children, Andre`, Kristin and Jacob; and his nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Cassandra, Destinee and Joseph Barnes Jr., Timothy, Jenna and Riley DeMolet, Skilah Leighton, and Walter and Diora Sockabasin. Friends may call starting 5 p.m. Tuesday at his parents home on 9 Moosewalk Lane, Pleasant Point, until 9 a.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday by Father Eugene Gaffey at St. Ann R.C. Church, Pleasant Point. Burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Perry.
