Obituary for James E. Cloney

Calais – James E. Cloney, 91, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at Calais Regional Hospital. Jim was born in St. Stephen, NB on August 30, 1924, son of the late Roy and Margaret (McInnis) Cloney. After graduating from Calais Academy, Class of 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Jim served his country during WWII with the Artillery Division. Following his service, he moved to Connecticut where he worked for American Cyanamid, working his way up to Plant Manager. With 40 years of service, Jim decided to retire and move back to Calais. While in Calais he worked part-time for the Sherman Bros. Post # 3 American Legion as a bartender. Jim enjoyed golfing and was a member of St. Croix Country Club in Calais, as well as Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion.

Surviving are his sister Barbara Conlogue of Houlton; two nieces, Peg Conlogue of Houlton, and Beth Clayton and husband Kenneth of Caribou; a nephew Mark Conlogue and wife Christine of Lewiston; and grand-nieces and grand-nephew, Nicole, Holly, Jaclyn, Meaghan, and Ryan.

A committal service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Calais Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
