Baileyville- James Bernard Dwelley, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 30, 2018. Jim was born in St. Stephen, NB, on April 8, 1950, son of Olaf and Harriet (Seamans) Dwelley.
After graduating from Woodland High School, Class of 1968, Jim furthered his education at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor where he studied Instrumentation. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving as a Mechanic in Germany. Following his service, Jim returned home and started his career at Georgia Pacific, from which he retired with over 40 years of service. On March 22, 1973, he married his love, Marlene Tammaro. Jim enjoyed helping others, antique cars and being in the outdoors, whether it was riding his four-wheeler or his motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a sister, Mary Austin; and his faithful canine companion and best friend Molly. Surviving are his beloved wife of 45 years, Marlene Dwelley; two sisters, Sonja Leighton of Baileyville, and Margot Mulholland and husband Hal of Baileyville; a brother Dane Dwelley and companion Doreen White of Old Town; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Mike Colerick of Portland; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Frank Maxwell, Bruce White, Dale Cumberland, Norman Thornton and George Blaney; and his feline companions, Wheezie, Patches and Tigger.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no service. A private burial will take place at the Alexander Cemetery. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to The Ark Animal Shelter, PO Box 276, Cherryfield, ME 04622. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
