Perry – James Craig Morris, 77, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at his home in Perry. James was born in Queens, NY on April 4, 1940.
After graduating high school, he attended University of Pennsylvania. Later, James enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Machinist Mate aboard the submarines USS Piper and USS Tinosa for seven years. Following his naval service, James worked for various shipyards and eventually relocated to Perry. He worked at Georgia Pacific for 17 years and then the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement. James was a Communicant of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Eastport and was a member of the NRA and the Masonic lodge. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, building model ships, and was an avid train enthusiast.
James was predeceased by his parents, Timothy and Annette Morris; and his wife, Donna (Oliva) Morris. Surviving are his three sons, Brian Morris and wife Sarah of Bradford, Brendon Morris of York, and Sean Baumer and wife Joanne of St. Louis, MO; and five grandchildren, Noah, Maggie, Simon, Charlie and Penny.
A celebration of James’ life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7th at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Visitation will be just prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
