James Francis Slowe Jr., 70, passed away with his wife by his side following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME. James was born in Somerville, MA, on May 29, 1953, son of James and Margaret (Jervis) Slowe.
After graduating from Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston, MA, James attended Bunker Hill Community College to study electrical. For a couple of years, he worked for B.B.C. as a sound engineer for concerts, traveling throughout the United States. Wanting to be at home more often, James worked for Sears until starting his career in commercial construction. While at Sears, he met the love of his life, Susan Shaw. They were married on August 8, 1987. In 1992, James and Susan decided to move to Maine, where they settled in Vanceboro. He continued working in commercial construction until his retirement. James was also a Code Enforcement Officer and a Licensed Plumbing Inspector with the State of Maine in Washington County. He loved fishing, cooking, and spending time at his camp on Spednic Lake.
In addition to his parents James and Margaret Slowe, he was predeceased by a sister Frances Slowe. Surviving are his wife Susan Slowe of Vanceboro, ME; sister Margaret Slowe of Everett, MA; niece Margaret Savilonis and husband Dirk Bender of New Haven, CT; nephew Dennis Savilonis and fiancé Jolene Dorazio of Everett, MA; two great-nieces, Emma Bender and Gia Polci; his “adopted sister” Eleanor Dewire and husband Michael of Waltham, MA; many cousins; and special friends Dan and Kim Duce of Fall River, NS, Michelle and Greg Grass of Vanceboro, ME, Walt and Esther Durgin of Lambert Lake, ME, Gary Fish of Lambert Lake, ME, and Dennis Dyer of Vanceboro, ME.
